Parent and Family Engagement Workshop

This course contains learning materials for parents, students, and teachers on the internet-based technologies used at our school in order to enhance student achievement and family engagement.

All instructional material is freely available and accessible from the CCSD Canvas system, and can be completed at individual discretion. But, we know that learning brand new technology can be an overwhelming process for many of us, so this course will be used in conjunction with several in-school workshops where students and parents can get help from knowledgeable school staff while working through the course in a first-person social context.

The workshops are focused on the "big" technology and communication environments provided free of cost to students and parents. Ideally, students and parents will attend the workshops together, in order to foster collaborative understanding of the tools and resources available during the school year. For non-native English speaking families, some workshops will be have a translator on hand to ensure successful transmission of the course information.

The workshops and this course will detail the ways the Canvas learning management system, Infinite Campus student information system, and Google Apps accounts are used to manage everything from grades and attendance to course content, email, and individual student progress monitoring.
